The TNT Vision and Philosophy

Effective training matters. Life is too short and time is too valuable to be wasted on blind training- where information is not retained during a fight to stay awake and stay focused. And training, especially technical training, has become more challenging to deliver effectivity with the influence of cell phones, blue lights, multi-tasking, and screen overload. This requires special tools and techniques today specific to audience, objective, platform, and, demographics.

Good training, effective training, can change lives by creating improved communication and teamwork, improved self and team understanding, improved safety, true understanding of risk, loss prevention, and loss reduction, and, increased technical understanding leading to confidence, motivation, and career advancement. The opposite can be true of check box or unenlightened training programs.

TNT operates on the belief that developing and delivering training programs is a privilege that comes with the inherent understanding there is a unique opportunity, a responsibility, that lies almost entirely on the instructor and content developer.

General training development and delivery is basic. Effective training with connection, retention, and real world application is more complex. Course kickoff matters, topic selection matters, content matters, presentation matters, environment including seating and lighting matters, timing matters, and instructor/narrator matters.

Training program success should never be based simply on material delivery, agenda compliance and timing, gamification, microlearning format/timing, speaker accolades, or guided/railed "five star” ratings. Textbook education theories are only effective if applied with an understanding of the audience and expected impact. Technical training delivery, whether in person or virtual, should consider and incorporate education of content tied to knowledge of use and wisdom of when and how to use. Training programs (and platforms), especially those for technical content, should not ignoring the value of wisdom which, typically comes from an experience bridge built with intent between knowledge and wisdom that creates a progressive, growing development loop.

OUR STORY

TNT Technical Training was built on a foundation of 30-plus years of direct corporate and contract training experience delivering technical and soft skills content courses on various platforms to various global demographics and skill sets.

TNT was formed based on direct experience with proven theories people effectively learn as a result of engaging content and a trainer/mentor/manager that is continuously focused material delivery with both situational and environmental awareness- critical in both virtual and in-person sessions. This is, continuous Dunn-Krueger instructor self-awareness and audience connection that starts with program development.

TNT was started to share a passion for life-long learning and instruction where simplified technical content delivery is done, both in person and virtually, with interaction, fun, and relation to real world reference for ultimate comprehension, retention, and use.

There is a balance and duality between instruction and learning, between speaking and listening, between mentoring/managing and mediation, between quantum entanglement (https://www.space.com/quantum-yin-yang-shows-two-photons-being-entangled-in-real-time).

Effective training involves a balance between leading and allowing expression, giving and receiving information, and, confidence and compassion.

The taijitu also represents todays risk environment. Risk is getting more complex daily. Each new technology brings societal blessings with the potential for new and unrecognized emerging risks. Risk is part of life and site operations… every day, every hour, every minute. This is the duality of progress and, the value of risk management and technical training.

Last, is the representation that effective training involves sharing knowledge with an openness to know there is always something we can all learn.

THE TNT NAME

TNT (short for trinitrotoluene-  a solid organic nitrogen compound used chiefly as an explosive) relates to the explosive energy in course development and dynamite delivery we use distilled from the key element of passion from/for every client. TNT is also a representation of the importance of simplified but correct technical information- for example, "TNT" is not dynamite.

Dynamite is not an actual compound like TNT but an  absorbent medium coated in nitroglycerin. Facts with supporting stories support absorption and retention.

TNT can also represent the unstable danger when trainer, mentor or manager do not check ego and share the passion for learning.  The person that moves to thinking they know everything also moves from an asset to a liability.

The reality, for over 10 years TNT has represented the love of training and, Bruce's two daughters- Terra and Trisha (TnT). Both also now working in the world of property insurance and risk.
