Effective training matters. Life is too short and time is too valuable to be wasted on blind training- where information is not retained during a fight to stay awake and stay focused. And training, especially technical training, has become more challenging to deliver effectivity with the influence of cell phones, blue lights, multi-tasking, and screen overload. This requires special tools and techniques today specific to audience, objective, platform, and, demographics.
Good training, effective training, can change lives by creating improved communication and teamwork, improved self and team understanding, improved safety, true understanding of risk, loss prevention, and loss reduction, and, increased technical understanding leading to confidence, motivation, and career advancement. The opposite can be true of check box or unenlightened training programs.
TNT operates on the belief that developing and delivering training programs is a privilege that comes with the inherent understanding there is a unique opportunity, a responsibility, that lies almost entirely on the instructor and content developer.
General training development and delivery is basic. Effective training with connection, retention, and real world application is more complex. Course kickoff matters, topic selection matters, content matters, presentation matters, environment including seating and lighting matters, timing matters, and instructor/narrator matters.
Training program success should never be based simply on material delivery, agenda compliance and timing, gamification, microlearning format/timing, speaker accolades, or guided/railed "five star” ratings. Textbook education theories are only effective if applied with an understanding of the audience and expected impact. Technical training delivery, whether in person or virtual, should consider and incorporate education of content tied to knowledge of use and wisdom of when and how to use. Training programs (and platforms), especially those for technical content, should not ignoring the value of wisdom which, typically comes from an experience bridge built with intent between knowledge and wisdom that creates a progressive, growing development loop.
